Job summary

The ExtraCare Charitable Trust are recruiting a Facilities Maintenance Assistant at Hughenden Gardens Village. You will support day-to-day maintenance, carry out planned preventative maintenance, reactive repairs, and safety checks to keep the village safe and welcoming for residents and staff.

Working as part of a friendly team, you will handle basic carpentry and plumbing tasks, log maintenance requests, and assist with contractor works while upholding health and safety standards.

Qualifications

• Ideally, facilities background in a multi‑dwelling building.
• Ability to carry out carpentry and plumbing tasks.
• Flexible to support the village out of hours on a rota basis.
• Logging maintenance requests using MS Word/Excel and related systems.
• Reliable, punctual and able to work unsupervised with good communication.

Responsibilities

• Carry out planned preventative maintenance, reactive repairs, and statutory checks across the village.
• Perform health and safety inspections and life-critical system testing.
• Prioritise repair requests and complete them to a high standard.
• Support void properties work, water safety checks, and general repairs.
• Work with contractors to ensure safe practices and quality workmanship.
• Provide handyman support to residents, including minor repairs and furniture assembly.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records and report defects.
• Assist with staff induction, fire safety training, and risk assessments.
• Conduct regular site inspections to identify hazards and maintain a safe environment.
• Support Maintenance Supervisor and cover maintenance operations in their absence.
