Job summary

Thames Water is recruiting a Mechanical & Electrical Technician for Kempton Park WTW. You will inspect, maintain, fault diagnose, test, install, modify or repair mechanical plant and electrical equipment with minimal supervision to keep sites operational.

The role offers a competitive salary up to £45,000 per year, with standby rota payments and overtime potential that can increase earnings by £8–£10k. Benefits include a defined-contribution pension, generous leave and health and wellbeing

Qualifications

• Time-served apprentice with significant electrical experience in a true multi-skilled capacity.
• Upskilled with a mechanical qualification to enable inspecting, maintaining, fault diagnosis, testing or repairing mechanical and electrical plant equipment.
• For mechanical or electrical experience only, development to dual-skilled status will be pursued.

Responsibilities

• Carry out scheduled planned maintenance on mechanical and electrical equipment to minimise plant breakdowns.
• Investigate plant failures and carry out rapid repairs to avoid process interruptions.
• Provide technical advice and training/support for technical trainees as required.
• Work on pumps, control gear, 3-phase motors, starters and controls, VSDs and PLCs, valves, dosing equipment.
• Participate in a standby rota following relevant training.
