Job summary

Thames Water Utilities Limited in London is seeking a Mechanical & Electrical Technician to join the Chingford WTW team. The role involves inspecting, maintaining, diagnosing faults, testing, installing and repairing electrical and mechanical plant, with a focus on safe, efficient operations.

The position offers a permanent, full-time contract with 38 hours a week, a clear progression path, and company benefits. Training and PPE are provided to support your responsibilities and safety on site.

Qualifications

• Time-served apprentice with significant experience in electrical systems.
• Upskilled with a mechanical qualification to inspect, maintain, fault diagnose, test, install, modify or repair plant equipment.
• Aim to develop dual-skilled status for individuals with mechanical or electrical focus.
• Knowledge and awareness of health and safety issues are crucial.
• Role requires physical fitness and ability to work in confined spaces.
• A valid driving licence is essential and tools/equipment are provided.

Responsibilities

• Carry out scheduled planned maintenance on mechanical and electrical equipment.
• Investigate plant failures and perform repairs to minimise interruptions.
• Provide technical advice and refer to up-to-date knowledge; train or support trainees if required.
• Work on equipment such as pumps, 3-phase motors, starters and controls, VSDs and PLCs.
• Participate in standby rota after relevant training.
