Job summary

Veolia is seeking an MRF Team Leader in Wolverhampton for a night shift role. You will operate the Materials Recovery Facility with a focus on safety and customer service, guiding staff and maintaining KPI targets while ensuring high standards of housekeeping and compliance.

The role offers 40 hours per week, a salary of £40,000 per annum, and a benefits package including pension, leave and development opportunities. Strong leadership and recycling knowledge are essential.

Qualifications

• Familiarity with content management systems and waste management concepts.
• Strong written and verbal communication abilities for diverse stakeholders.
• Solid IT literacy, with familiarity of Google workspace applications.
• Understanding of the Working Time Directive and its implications.
• IOSH Managing Safely certification or willingness to obtain.
• Ability to coach and lead a team in a safety-focused environment.

Responsibilities

• Operate MRF facility with safety and service focus while meeting objectives.
• Act as primary contact for service users, providing recycling guidance.
• Coach and mentor staff to build strong team dynamics.
• Lead by example, uphold Veolia values with stakeholders.
• Monitor KPIs, ensure housekeeping and clear communication.
• Manage performance and attendance with proper documentation.

What you’ll be doing

• Operate MRF facility with focus on safety and customer service excellence while meeting company objectives
• Serve as primary contact for service users, providing expert recycling guidance and customer support
• Build and maintain strong team dynamics through effective coaching and mentoring of staff
• Demonstrate leadership by upholding organisational values and engaging with stakeholders
• Monitor and report KPIs, maintaining high housekeeping standards and clear communication channels
• Manage employee performance and attendance through proper documentation and review processes
• Ensure compliance with safety policies and legal requirements while leading by example

What we're looking for

• Proficiency with CMS Systems
• Knowledge and practical understanding of waste hierarchy
• Strong communication skills and interpersonal abilities
• Competency in IT skills, particularly Google platform
• Understanding of working time directive regulations
• IOSH Managing Safely certification
