Job summary

Veolia is seeking an on-site workshop leader in Morden to drive safety culture and deliver fleet maintenance excellence. You will manage a team of technicians, coordinate contractors, and ensure KPIs for risk, reliability and costs are met.

The role demands strong communication, hands-on leadership, and fit with Veolia’s values. A relevant licence and IT competence are essential for success in this hands-on position.

Qualifications

• City & Guilds or HGV NVQ Level 3 in vehicle maintenance; LGV Cat C or C+E licence holder.
• Excellent communication, ability to work under pressure and problem-solving with flexibility.
• IT skills and MOT regulations knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Promote safety culture in the team.
• Lead by example; encourage reporting of incidents.
• Delivery of KPIs including Risk and Assurance, Fleet Compliance and Service Levels.
• Manage contractors on site including issue of permits with appropriate company procedure.
• Manage a team of workshop technicians and support staff.
• Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide constructive feedback.
• Identify training needs and facilitate skill development opportunities.
• Act as the primary point of contact for key customers.
• Address customer inquiries and resolve issues promptly.
• Monitor timely delivery of products and services.
• Maintain high standards of quality to meet customer expectations.
• Ensure operational targets are achieved in respect of Risk and Assurance performance, asset availability, reliability and costs.
• Report and deal with safety and environmental concerns.
• Support budget planning with technical information.

What you'll be doing;

• Ensure agreed operational targets are achieved in respect of Risk and Assurance performance, asset availability, reliability and costs, whilst effectively managing all operational and asset related risks
• Report and dealing with (if appropriate) safety and environmental concerns (spills/leaks/litter/safe stacking of packaged waste /clean and well maintained bunds/odours or dust)
• Support line management with technical information to aid budget planning
• CAPEX specification
• Continually monitor equipment / performance and set plans to improve reliability of the processes and equipment
• Ensure equipment is serviced and maintained in accordance with the statutory regulations such as LOLER, PUWER and manufacturer recommendations
• Assist or complete health and safety monitoring to include VMR inspections, equipment inspections and report all accidents, incidents and close calls
• Carry out investigations on equipment failures, determine root causes and recommend recovery plans with cost effective solutions to prevent reoccurrence
• Support the team in planning to provide a priority list for maintenance, procurement of parts and equipment necessary
• Manage the preparation and review of work instructions and risk assessments

What we're looking for;

• Essential: City & Guilds, or HGV NVQ level 3 vehicle maintenance and repairs LGV Category C or C+E Vocational Licence Holder Good communication skills. The ability to work under pressure, actively seek solutions to problems and having the flexibility to undertake a wide range of tasks are all key attributes. IT skills MOT regulations
• Desirable: Level 3 Leadership & Management or equivalent work experience Irtec Technician Licence Holder Forklift licence (Counterbalance) HGV Licence Welding/fabrication skills Plant/RCV experience Electrical knowledge Leadership experience
