Job summary

Oldham Council is seeking a Move-On Support Officer in Oldham to help rough sleepers move into sustainable accommodation and support needs. The role focuses on delivering compassionate, customer-centred advice and coordinating with partners to secure housing options across supported, social and private sectors.

The post holder will work with external and internal agencies, advocating for vulnerable customers and enabling access to services to sustain suitable accommodation in the community.

Qualifications

• Sufficient literacy and numeracy to undertake the tasks and duties of the role.
• Experience of providing advocacy on behalf of clients to other agencies.
• Relevant experience of working with homeless people with multiple and complex needs providing them with advice, assistance and support.

Responsibilities

• Complete and action move on plans supporting Personal Housing Plans under the Homelessness Reduction Act 2017, coordinating with Housing Pathway Advisors and partner agencies.
• Advocate for customers with informed consent to external agencies and participate in multi-agency meetings.
• Make referrals to specialist interventions for issues such as substance misuse, mental health, debt, benefits, and council tax.
