Job summary

Oldham Council seeks a Homelessness Prevention Officer to deliver high-quality, customer-focused housing advice and support to individuals facing rough sleeping or at risk. You will conduct assessments under Housing Act provisions and ensure statutory duties are met.

You will investigate applications, provide housing options interviews, and help produce Personal Housing Plans while maintaining legal compliance and performance standards.

Qualifications

• Good standard of education, including minimum 5 GCSEs at A*-C grade.
• Knowledge of the law governing homelessness and an understanding of current housing issues.
• Experience communicating complex legal information to diverse audiences.

Responsibilities

• Provide professional housing options interviews and homelessness investigations.
• Undertake detailed casework for customers who are homeless or at risk, assessing duties, housing and support needs, and Personal Housing Plans.
• Draft and issue notices and referral letters, including s184 notifications, with manager approval.
