Motorsports - Applied Vehicle Dynamics Team Support Engineer, Wolverhampton

This role is categorized as hybrid, requiring the successful candidate to report to Concord, NC three times per week, at minimum.

Job Overview

To strengthen our motorsports program, we are seeking a Team Simulation Support Engineer to enhance the utilization of our simulation toolchain across GM Motorsports-supported series. The primary goal is to provide engineering support that improves on-track performance. You will collaborate with race team members and GM support engineers to conduct analysis using offline and driver-in-loop (DiL) simulations, develop and educate on simulation tools, and contribute to vehicle modeling and simulation settings for on-track events. All projects should be completed to high standards, on time, and within budget. Proficiency in simulation, proactive engagement, and passion for accurate models are essential.

Key Responsibilities
  • Serve as a key performance support engineer for GM Motorsports in the NASCAR Cup series.
  • Assist teams in fitting collected data for simulation input.
  • Collaborate with the support team to improve the simulation toolchain and race team performance.
  • Provide expertise on simulation functionality and modeling practices.
  • Represent racing team needs in the development of simulation tools.
Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Physics, or related field.
  • 5+ years of engineering industry experience.
  • 4+ years of professional motorsport experience within a race team.
  • Proficiency with data analysis software such as Pi Toolbox, MoTeC i2, and McLaren ATLAS.
  • Knowledge of high-performance vehicle, tire, and aerodynamic modeling.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to multitask in a dynamic environment, with a strong work ethic and integrity.
  • Flexibility to travel 10% annually.

Preferred:

  • Master's degree in Engineering, Physics, or related field.
  • Experience with driver-in-loop (DiL) simulators.
  • Proficiency in Dymola/Modelica, C#, and Git.
