Job Description

Hybrid: This role is categorized as hybrid. The successful candidate is expected to report to Concord, NC three times per week, at minimum.

The Role

We are seeking a Team Simulation Support Engineer to enhance our motorsports program by utilizing our simulation toolchain across GM Motorsports-supported series. The primary goal is to provide engineering support that improves on-track performance. You will collaborate with race team members and GM support engineers to conduct analysis using offline and driver-in-loop (DiL) simulations, develop and educate on simulation tools, provide feedback to GM's simulation development, refine vehicle modeling inputs, and establish baseline simulation settings for on-track events. All projects should be completed to high standards, on time, and within budget. Proficiency in simulation tasks, proactive engagement, and a passion for accurate, efficient models are essential.

What You’ll Do

  • Serve as a key performance support engineer for GM Motorsports in the NASCAR Cup series.
  • Assist teams in fitting collected data for simulation input.
  • Collaborate to improve the simulation toolchain and enhance race team performance.
  • Provide expertise on simulation functionality and modeling practices.
  • Represent racing team needs in simulation development.

Additional Job Description

Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Physics, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of engineering industry experience.
  • 4+ years of professional motorsport experience within a race team setting.
  • Proficiency with data analysis software such as Pi Toolbox, MoTeC i2, and McLaren ATLAS.
  • Knowledge of high-performance vehicle, tire, and aerodynamic modeling techniques.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to multi-task in a dynamic environment with integrity and a strong work ethic.
  • Flexible schedule and willingness to travel 10% of the time annually.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Engineering, Physics, or related.
  • Experience with driver-in-loop (DiL) simulators.
  • Proficiency in Dymola/Modelica.
  • Familiarity with C# and Git.
