Job description

Job Description

Hybrid: This role is categorized as hybrid. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to Concord, NC three times per week, at minimum.

The Role

To strengthen our motorsports program, we are seeking a Team Simulation Support Engineer to enhance the utilization of our simulation toolchain across GM Motorsports-supported series. The primary goal of this position is to provide valuable engineering support that leads to improved on-track performance. You will collaborate with race team members and fellow GM support engineers to conduct analysis studies using offline and driver-in-loop (DiL) simulations. Additionally, you will assist in the development and education of offline simulation tools, facilitate team feedback to GM simulation development entities, contribute to the refinement of vehicle modeling inputs, and help establish baseline simulation settings for on-track events. You will be expected to complete all projects to the highest standards, on time, and within budget. Proficiency in completing engineering tasks using simulation, a proactive approach to engaging with others in vehicle performance activities, and a passion for using highly accurate and numerically efficient models are essential for this role.

What You’ll Do

  • Serve as a key performance support engineer for GM Motorsports in the NASCAR Cup series.
  • Assist teams in fitting collected data for input into simulation models.
  • Collaborate with the broader simulation support team to continuously improve and explore methods to enhance the simulation toolchain and boost race team performance.
  • Provide race teams with expert knowledge on simulation toolchain functionality and modeling practices.
  • Represent racing team needs as a stakeholder in the simulation toolchain development process.
