Job Description

This role is categorized as hybrid, requiring the successful candidate to report to Concord, NC three times per week at minimum.

The Role

We are seeking a Team Simulation Support Engineer to enhance our motorsports program by utilizing our simulation toolchain across GM Motorsports-supported series. Responsibilities include providing engineering support to improve on-track performance, collaborating with race team members and support engineers on analysis studies using offline and driver-in-loop (DiL) simulations, developing and educating on offline simulation tools, and contributing to vehicle modeling and simulation settings. The role demands completing projects to high standards, on time, and within budget, with proficiency in simulation and a proactive approach to vehicle performance activities.

What You’ll Do

  • Serve as a key performance support engineer for GM Motorsports in the NASCAR Cup series.
  • Assist teams in fitting collected data into simulation models.
  • Collaborate to improve simulation toolchain and enhance race team performance.
  • Provide expertise on simulation functionality and modeling practices.
  • Represent racing team needs in simulation development processes.

Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Physics, or related field.
  • 5+ years of engineering industry experience.
  • 4+ years of professional motorsport experience within a race team setting.
  • Proficiency with data analysis software such as Pi Toolbox, MoTeC i2, and McLaren ATLAS.
  • Knowledge of high-performance vehicle, tire, and aerodynamic modeling techniques.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to multitask in a dynamic environment, demonstrating a strong work ethic and integrity.
  • Flexible schedule and ability to travel 10% of the time annually.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Engineering, Physics, or related field.
  • Experience with driver-in-loop (DiL) simulators.
  • Proficiency with Dymola/Modelica, C#, and Git.
