Job summary

The RAC’s SMR division offers a new era of mobile repair, where technicians complete pre-booked jobs with a fully equipped RAC van. You’ll deliver routine servicing, diagnostics, and in-depth repairs directly to members, with structured schedules and no emergency callouts.

Taunton cluster coverage includes Taunton, Wellington, Minehead and surrounding areas. Expect a 40-hour week, 8:30–17:00 with 1 in 4 Saturdays, and a base salary of £40,170 with OTE up to £52,000.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 2 qualification in Light Vehicle Maintenance (or equivalent).
• 2+ years’ experience as a Vehicle Technician/Mechanic.
• Full UK driving licence with fewer than 6 points.

Responsibilities

• Routine servicing
• Diagnostics using advanced mobile equipment
• In-depth repairs you’d normally complete in a workshop
• Member advice and recommendations based on inspection
• Vehicle safety checks aligned to RAC standards
