Job summary

RAC is seeking a Mobile Vehicle Technician to join our SMR Division, covering the Northampton cluster. You will work on a pre-booked schedule of planned repairs and servicing, with a fully equipped RAC van, advanced diagnostics, and support to keep members moving.

Expect a 40-hour week with 8:30–17:00 core hours and 1 in 4 Saturdays. Salary starts at £40,170 with on-target earnings up to £52,000, plus overtime, bonuses and a strong benefits package.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 2 qualification in Light Vehicle Maintenance (or equivalent) with 2+ years’ experience, or 5+ years’ experience as a Vehicle Technician/Mechanic, and a full UK driving licence with fewer than 6 points.

Responsibilities

• Routine servicing
• Diagnostics using advanced mobile equipment
• In-depth repairs you’d normally complete in a workshop
• Member advice and recommendations based on your inspection
• Vehicle safety checks aligned to RAC standards
