Job summary

The RAC Reading cluster is hiring Mobile Mechanics for the SMR division. You’ll work on pre-booked visits to member vehicles, performing servicing, diagnostics with mobile equipment, in-depth repairs, and providing advice. No emergency callouts.

Full-time 40-hour week, Monday-Saturday 8am-8pm, base salary £40,170 with OT up to £52,000, overtime and bonuses, benefits including pension and life cover, plus 23 days holiday.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 2 in Light Vehicle Maintenance (or equivalent) with 2+ years' experience.
• Or 5+ years' experience as a Vehicle Technician/Mechanic.
• A full UK driving licence with fewer than 6 points.
• Commitment to technical development and accreditation pathway.

Responsibilities

• Routine servicing
• Diagnostics using mobile equipment
• In-depth repairs you’d normally complete in a workshop
• Member advice and recommendations based on your inspection
• Vehicle safety checks aligned to RAC standards
