Job summary

Join the RAC as a Mobile Vehicle Technician in the SMR division. You’ll operate on a pre-booked schedule across the Reading cluster and perform routine servicing, diagnostics, and in-depth repairs with a fully equipped RAC van and advanced diagnostics.

You’ll enjoy a base salary of £40,170 with on-target earnings up to £52,000, plus optional overtime, a 40-hour week, and every day the chance to help members get moving again with safety and quality at the forefront.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 2 qualification in Light Vehicle Maintenance (or equivalent) with 2+ years’ experience or 5+ years’ experience as a Vehicle Technician/Mechanic and a full UK driving licence with fewer than 6 points.
• Full-time, 40-hour week with core hours 8:30 am to 5:00 pm and 1 in 4 Saturdays.
• On-site role covering Reading cluster including Reading, Wokingham, Bracknell, Henley‑on‑Thames, Crowthorne, Sandhurst.

Responsibilities

• Routine servicing
• Diagnostics using advanced mobile equipment
• In-depth repairs you’d normally complete in a workshop
• Member advice and recommendations based on your inspection
• Vehicle safety checks aligned to RAC standards

Education

NVQ Level 2 qualification in Light Vehicle Maintenance (or equivalent) with 2+ years’ experience

5+ years’ experience as a Vehicle Technician/Mechanic
