Job summary

The RAC is recruiting a Mobile Vehicle Technician for its SMR division in the Derby cluster. This role delivers planned servicing and repairs to members at driveways and car parks, with a pre-booked schedule and no emergency callouts.

You’ll work a 40-hour week, with core hours 8:30am–5:00pm, 1 in 4 Saturdays, and you’ll be fully equipped with RAC van, fuel card, uniform, tools and advanced diagnostics to keep vehicles moving safely and efficiently.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 2 or equivalent with 2+ years’ experience in light vehicle maintenance.
• Experience as a vehicle technician/mechanic is essential.
• Full UK driving licence with fewer than 6 points.

Responsibilities

• Routine servicing of vehicles.
• Diagnostics using advanced mobile equipment.
• In-depth repairs typically done in a workshop.
• Provide member advice and recommendations after inspection.
• Perform vehicle safety checks aligned to RAC standards.
