Job summary

RAC is hiring a Mobile Vehicle Technician for its SMR division, delivering planned, mobile servicing and repairs directly to members. You’ll work from a fully equipped RAC van with a pre-booked schedule, performing diagnostics, routine servicing and in-depth repairs at driveways or car parks.

You will use your technical skills to inspect vehicles, advise members, and perform safety checks to RAC standards, with clear schedules and support for parts and tool availability.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 2 qualification in Light Vehicle Maintenance (or equivalent).
• 2+ years’ experience as a Vehicle Technician/Mechanic.
• A full UK driving licence with fewer than 6 points.

Responsibilities

• Carry out routine servicing.
• Diagnostics using advanced mobile equipment.
• In‑depth repairs you’d normally complete in a workshop.
• Member advice and recommendations based on your inspection.
• Vehicle safety checks aligned to RAC standards.

Education

NVQ Level 2 in Light Vehicle Maintenance (or equivalent)

2+ years’ experience

Full UK driving licence (fewer than 6 points)
