Job summary

RAC in the SMR division is hiring a Mobile Vehicle Technician to handle pre-booked service and repair work. You’ll use advanced diagnostics, carry out routine servicing, and deliver safety checks for members at driveways or workplaces.

The role offers a fully equipped RAC van, fuel card, uniform, and a structured, non-emergency workflow. The position is 40 hours per week with core hours 8:30 am to 5:00 pm and one in four Saturdays.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 2 in Light Vehicle Maintenance (or equivalent) with 2+ years’ experience.
• 5+ years’ experience as a Vehicle Technician/Mechanic.
• Full UK driving licence with fewer than 6 points.

Responsibilities

• Routine servicing and diagnostics using mobile equipment.
• In-depth repairs typically done in a workshop.
• Provide member advice and recommendations after inspection.
• Carry out vehicle safety checks aligned to RAC standards.
• Prepare for planned, pre-booked jobs with needed tools and parts.
