Job summary

The RAC is hiring a Mobile Vehicle Technician in the SMR Division to deliver planned, on‑drive repairs and servicing directly to members at their homes or workplaces. You’ll work in a defined local area with pre‑booked jobs, using advanced diagnostics and a fully equipped RAC van.

Expect a 40‑hour week (Mon–Sat) with core hours, a base salary of £40,170 and earnings up to £52,000 with overtime and bonuses, plus benefits like a fuel card, uniform and tools.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 2 in Light Vehicle Maintenance (or equivalent) with 2+ years’ experience.
• 5+ years’ experience as Vehicle Technician/Mechanic with a full UK driving licence (≤6 points).
• Full UK driving licence with fewer than 6 points.

Responsibilities

• Routine servicing and diagnostics using advanced mobile equipment.
• In‑depth repairs you’d normally complete in a workshop.
• Member advice and recommendations based on your inspection.
• Vehicle safety checks aligned to RAC standards.
