Job summary

The RAC is hiring a Mobile Vehicle Technician for its SMR division. Work is scheduled and pre-booked, with no emergency callouts, offering a stable 40-hour week and core hours from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm, plus 1 in 4 Saturdays.

You’ll perform routine servicing, diagnostics, and in-depth repairs with a fully equipped RAC van and comprehensive support—aiming to keep members moving safely. Base salary is £40,170 with on-target earnings up to £52,000, plus guaranteed overtime and additional premium-rate

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 2 in Light Vehicle Maintenance or equivalent with 2+ years’ experience.
• 5+ years’ experience as a Vehicle Technician/Mechanic.
• Full UK driving licence with fewer than 6 points.

Responsibilities

• Routine servicing.
• Diagnostics using advanced mobile equipment.
• In-depth repairs you’d normally complete in a workshop.
• Member advice and recommendations based on inspection.
• Vehicle safety checks aligned to RAC standards.

Education

NVQ Level 2 qualification in Light Vehicle Maintenance (or equivalent)
