Job summary

The RAC is looking for a Mobile Vehicle Technician in its SMR Division in the UK. You’ll perform planned diagnostics and servicing with a fully equipped RAC van, guided by a digital schedule and fixed hours. Expect structured, non-emergency work with development opportunities in future EV and diagnostic skills.

Base salary starts around £40,178 with on-target earnings up to £52,000; overtime may raise base to £44,385. Flexible 40‑hour weeks, with Saturdays in rotation.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 2 qualification in Light Vehicle Maintenance (or equivalent) with 2+ years’ experience.
• 5+ years’ experience as a Vehicle Technician/Mechanic
• A full UK driving licence with fewer than 6 points

Responsibilities

• Routine servicing
• Diagnostics using advanced mobile equipment
• In‑depth repairs you’d normally complete in a workshop
• Member advice and recommendations based on your inspection
• Vehicle safety checks aligned to RAC standards

Education

NVQ Level 2 qualification in Light Vehicle Maintenance (or equivalent)

5+ years’ experience as a Vehicle Technician/Mechanic
