Job summary

Clear Automotive in Coventry is hiring a skilled MET Technician / Strip Fitter to join a leading accident repair group. The role involves removing and refitting trims, diagnosing faults, and ensuring pre-accident restoration. A strong MET background in a bodyshop is essential.

The position offers a Monday–Friday schedule (40 hours), with a generous benefits package including pension and healthcare, 33 days of annual leave, and a steady flow of repairs in a modern bodyshop environment.

Qualifications

• City & Guilds Level 3 in Automotive Bodyshop Repair or equivalent.
• ATA qualification would be advantageous.
• Previous Bodyshop MET experience is essential.
• Strip and fit and trim experience.
• Rebuilding bodywork on damaged vehicles is a bonus within a bodyshop.

Responsibilities

• Remove and refit mechanical and electrical trims, panels and components on vehicles.
• Ensure stripping and rebuilding work is carried out to professional standards with final quality checks.
• Dismantle vehicles ready for the panel area.
• Carry out inspections, fault finding and diagnostic work.
• Order replacement parts as needed.
• Reassemble vehicles with new parts to pre-accident condition.
• Strip and fit components, bodywork, and trim elements within MET duties.
• Follow manufacturer repair methods to return vehicles to pre-accident condition.

We're currently offering an exciting opportunity for a skilled MET Technician or Vehicle Strip Fitter to join a highly reputable and fast-paced accident repair centre. This role is ideal for someone with a background in either a bodyshop or accident repair environment and

The Job: MET Technician / Mechanic Strip Fitter

• Remove & refit mechanical and electrical trims / panels / components on vehicles
• Ensure that stripping and rebuilding work of all vehicles is carried out in a professional and correct manner and that final quality checks are undertaken in line with applicable standards
• Dismantling vehicles ready for the panel area
• Carrying out inspections, fault finding and diagnostic work
• Ordering replacement parts
• Re-assembling the vehicle with new parts as required to pre-accident condition
• Stripping and fitting components, bodywork and trim elements
• All MET duties required within your remit
• Follow manufacturer repair methods to return vehicles to pre-accident condition
• Fault finding / Diagnostics
• Perform road testing (if applicable)
• Dismantle and reassemble damaged vehicles in accordance with the prescribed repair method

Job Experience Required: MET Technician / Mechanic Strip Fitter

• City & Guild Level 3 (or equivalent) in Automotive Bodyshop Repair
• ATA Qualification would be an advantage
• Previous Bodyshop M.E.T experience is essential
• Strip and fit and trim experience
• Rebuilding bodywork on damaged vehicles in a bonus bodyshop
