Job summary

Auto Skills UK is seeking an Experienced MET Technician in Walsall to join a skilled accident repair team. This full-time position offers a competitive salary and a structured, Monday–Friday schedule.

You will work in a modern bodyshop environment, handling mechanical, electrical and trim work on damaged vehicles. You should bring proven MET experience, strong diagnostic abilities, and a commitment to high-quality repairs.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as an MET Technician within an automotive accident repair centre or bodyshop.
• Strong mechanical, electrical and trim knowledge.
• Experience stripping and refitting modern vehicles following accident damage.
• Good understanding of vehicle construction, repair methods and manufacturer procedures.
• Ability to diagnose mechanical and electrical issues effectively.
• Strong attention to detail with a commitment to safe, high-quality repairs.
• Ability to work efficiently within a busy production environment.
• Professional, reliable and motivated approach.
• Strong team player with the ability to work independently when required.
• Full UK Driving Licence preferred.

Responsibilities

• Carry out mechanical, electrical and trim removal and refitting on accident-damaged vehicles.
• Strip and refit vehicle components accurately and efficiently.
• Diagnose and rectify mechanical and electrical faults associated with accident repairs.
• Complete pre-repair and post-repair checks to ensure vehicles are safe and correctly assembled.
• Work closely with Panel Technicians and other bodyshop departments to maintain efficient vehicle throughput.
• Follow manufacturer repair methods, technical procedures and Health & Safety requirements.
• Identify additional damage or repair requirements and communicate these to the relevant team members.
• Complete repairs within agreed production times while maintaining excellent technical standards and attention to detail.

THE ROLE

As an Experienced MET Technician, you will be responsible for the mechanical, electrical, trim and associated technical aspects of vehicle accident repairs. Working closely with Panel Technicians, Paint Technicians and Workshop Controllers, you'll play an important role in ensuring vehicles are repaired safely, efficiently and to the required manufacturer and bodyshop standards.

• Strip and refit vehicle components accurately and efficiently
• Diagnose and rectify mechanical and electrical faults associated with accident repairs

We're looking for an experienced and technically capable MET Technician who takes pride in their work and has a strong understanding of modern vehicle repair and accident damage processes.

• Proven experience as an MET Technician within an automotive accident repair centre or bodyshop
• Strong mechanical, electrical and trim knowledge
• Experience stripping and refitting modern vehicles following accident damage
• Good understanding of vehicle construction, repair methods and manufacturer procedures
• Ability to diagnose mechanical and electrical issues effectively
• Strong attention to detail with a commitment to safe, high-quality repairs
• Ability to work efficiently within a busy production environment
• Professional, reliable and motivated approach
• Strong team player with the ability to work independently when required
• IMI and/or ATA qualifications advantageous
• Full UK Driving Licence preferred
