Job description

Are you a strong communicator who can build relationships, influence stakeholders, and keep complex projects moving?

Do you thrive in fast-paced environments where organisation, problem-solving, and people skills matter more than technical knowledge?

Then Crown House Technologies, is the perfect place for you!

We're looking for a Procurement Manager to support major projects within Laing O'Rourke. You do not need MEP experience or to be a subject matter expert, we can teach you the technical elements. What we do need is someone who can drive processes, challenge when needed, and keep procurement activity organised, structured, and on track.

This role can be based at any one of our offices in either Manchester, Dartford, Worksop or Oldbury.

If you join us you'll be a valued member of an industry leading team which can offer you an exciting and varied career with access to some truly great projects. We are committed to extensive training, development, and long-term career opportunities and as such this role is suitable for someone who is seeking long-term career progression.

Key Responsibilities

Working alongside senior procurement leaders, you will:

  • Support the delivery of best-in-class procurement across a major project portfolio
  • Implement procurement plans in line with project strategy
  • Run and manage tender processes for subcontractors, materials, plant and services
  • Contribute to market insight, cost advice and supply chain performance feedback
  • Support and guide a team of procurement professionals
  • Maintain clear, accurate procurement information and reporting
  • Represent procurement in project meetings and reviews
  • Build strong, ethical relationships with suppliers and subcontractors aligned to LOR values
  • Champion innovation, DfMA, and opportunities for self-delivery
  • Ensure compliance with corporate governance and procurement best practice
This is a role for someone who can:
  • Lead conversations with suppliers and internal teams
  • Enforce processes and ensure standards are followed
  • Run meetings across different projects and keep actions moving
  • Challenge stakeholders where needed, with confidence and professionalism
  • Manage tenders, documentation, and procurement information clearly and on time
  • Build strong working relationships at all levels
  • Bring structure, organization, and pace to busy projects
You Don't Need to Be a Technical Expert — But You DO Need:
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal & written)
  • Confidence to challenge, influence and drive outcomes
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple workstreams
  • Experience running meetings, managing stakeholders or working across busy project environments
  • Ability to follow structure, apply processes and keep detailed information organized
  • A people-first mindset with professionalism, integrity, and ownership

MEP experience is helpful — but not essential, if you have transferable skills such as project coordination, estimating, commercial support, stakeholder management, or operations.

Desirable Qualifications (Not Essential)
  • MCIPS / procurement qualifications
  • Construction-related diploma or degree
But again — not a requirement.
