Media and Communications Officer

37 hours per week
£35,412 to £38,220 per annum (appointment is commensurate to skills, experience and qualifications)
Fixed‑term contract for two years
This is a full‑time position; however, we welcome applications from those who wish to work part‑time or job‑share.

We are looking for a new Media and Communications Officer to join our friendly corporate communications team in the beautiful coastal district of Teignbridge. We’re looking for politically astute storytellers who can thrive in a fast‑paced media environment. You’ll have the ability to grasp complex issues quickly and turn them into clear, confident messaging that resonates with our audiences. With a sharp news sense and an understanding of the local political landscape, you’ll spot opportunities to showcase the council’s work and tell compelling stories. At the same time, you’ll be trusted to identify and manage reputational risks, ensuring our communications are timely, accurate and effective.

You will have experience in writing for print and digital channels, working with the media, and creating compelling content for social media and websites. The role requires a relevant communications qualification, or demonstratable communications or journalism experience.
