Overview

We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Manager to join a leading developer on a major, 300 unit project. This is a fantastic opportunity to play a key role in delivering mechanical systems to the highest standards of quality, safety, and efficiency.

As Mechanical Manager, you'll oversee all mechanical works on site — from installation through to commissioning and handover. You'll ensure compliance, lead on quality assurance, and work closely with project managers, subcontractors, and commissioning teams to achieve programme milestones.

Responsibilities
  • Manage and monitor all mechanical works, ensuring compliance with drawings, specifications, and H&S standards.
  • Review and approve subcontractor RAMs, ensuring updates are maintained.
  • Conduct regular site inspections, audits, and safety checks.
  • Drive quality control: snagging, de-snagging, benchmark sign-off, and QA software updates.
  • Liaise with the commissioning manager to ensure smooth system testing and commissioning.
  • Support project handover, ensuring all O&M manuals, as-built drawings, and asset registers are completed.
  • Chair and attend site meetings, progress reviews, and daily briefings.
  • Collaborate with project leads to deliver mechanical utilities such as water, gas, and district heating.
About You
  • Proven experience as a Mechanical Manager (mechanically biased).
  • Strong knowledge of building services, design principles, and commissioning requirements.
  • Ability to read and interpret programmes, drawings, and specifications.
  • Qualified in Building Services or Mechanical Engineering (City & Guilds/NVQ or equivalent preferred).
  • Valid SMSTS card.
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and leadership skills.
  • Organised, detail-oriented, and able to work under pressure
