Hours: 7:30am - 4:30pm (Monday to Friday)

Salary: £28,200 - £30,000 per annum

Role Overview

We are seeking a proactive Mechanical Maintenance Engineer to join our clients team. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation, maintenance, and repair of mechanical systems and equipment across the site. This is a hands‑on role requiring strong problem‑solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently as well as part of a small team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance on mechanical machinery
  • Diagnose faults and perform repairs to minimise downtime.
  • Maintain and service conveyors, pumps, motors, and other mechanical systems.
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings and technical manuals.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety standards at all times.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance equipment reliability and efficiency.
  • Record maintenance activities and update documentation accurately.
  • Liaise with other departments to coordinate maintenance schedules and minimise disruption.
Requirements
  • Proven experience as a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer (manufacturing/industrial environment preferred).
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, hydraulics, and pneumatics.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
  • Relevant engineering qualification (NVQ, City & Guilds, apprentice trained or equivalent).
  • Good communication skills and a proactive approach to problem‑solving.
  • Health & safety training desirable but not essential.
