You will perform mechanical maintenance in a 24-hour processing environment, ensuring plant reliability and supporting safety operations. Required qualifications include a minimum NVQ Level 3 in Plant Maintenance, with experience in heavy industry preferred. This role features a rotating shift pattern of 4 on 4 off, with a competitive salary of up to £42,789 per annum.

MECHANICAL FITTER

UP TO £42,789.00 PER ANNUM

HU12 AREA OF HULL

Shift pattern is 4 on 4 off - 2 days 06:30 am - 18:30 pm and 2 nights 18:30 pm - 06:30 am and then 4 days off - over an 8‑day rota.

Job Purpose

Our client is seeking a skilled Mechanical Fitter to carry out mechanical maintenance activities within a 24‑hour fused minerals processing environment. The role involves ensuring plant reliability, supporting safe operations, and contributing to the overall efficiency of the site.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work under the direction of the Engineering Supervisor to complete assigned maintenance tasks promptly and effectively.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance data, including input and output logs.
  • Evaluate equipment performance and make recommendations for improvements.
  • Adhere to all safety procedures, permits, and company policies.
  • Immediately report unsafe activities or conditions to the Line Supervisor.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organised working area at all times.
Required Skills & Experience
  • Experience working within a maintenance environment, ideally in heavy industry or manufacturing.
  • Familiarity with health & safety systems, including lock out / tag out procedures.
  • Willingness to assist with tasks outside core mechanical responsibilities when required.
  • Strong team‑working capabilities as well as the ability to work independently.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Competent in the safe operation of mechanical equipment.
  • Commitment to following safe working practices to protect self and colleagues.
  • Physically fit and able to meet the demands of the role.
  • Flexibility to work rotating shift patterns.
Preferred Skills
  • Knowledge of pipefitting, pneumatics, hydraulics, electrical, and control systems.
  • Experience with equipment installation.
  • Experience operating forklift trucks, mobile elevated work platforms (MEWPs) or similar equipment.
Qualifications
  • Minimum NVQ Level 3 in Plant Maintenance.
  • Electrical qualifications or experience (advantageous).
  • Counterbalance forklift truck licence (desirable).
  • Strong numeracy and literacy skills.
