The Role

As a Mechanical Assembly Engineer, you will play a key part in assembling high‑spec machinery and equipment to exacting standards and within agreed timelines. You will support operational excellence, champion continuous improvement, and contribute to an exceptional customer experience.

You will be working in a collaborative environment where safety, quality, and teamwork are at the heart of everything they do.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assemble machinery and equipment to specification, using correct tools and engineering methods.
  • Interpret and analyse assembly drawings, bills of materials, and technical documentation.
  • Fit and assemble mechanical components, including forming and fastening pneumatic lines, fixtures, and air systems.
  • Conduct torque checks, quality checks and ensure all work is signed off accurately.
  • Communicate build issues or documentation errors to leadership.
  • Assist with dismantling equipment, packing, and loading when required.
  • Support and provide guidance to colleagues, apprentices, and additional assembly labour.
  • Ensure work areas are clean, organised, hazard‑free, and customer‑ready.
  • Follow all Health & Safety legislation and site PPE requirements.
  • Demonstrate flexibility to work overtime when needed.

  • Minimum 3+ years' experience in mechanical assembly (packaging industry experience is a bonus)
  • Time‑served engineering qualification – NVQ Level 3 or equivalent apprenticeship
  • Strong interpersonal and time management skills
  • An initiative‑taking, flexible “can‑do” attitude
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong drive, determination, and attention to detail
  • Must have appropriate personal hand tools.
