Job summary

Mott MacDonald is seeking a Mechanical Discipline Lead for its Water Utilities Division in the UK. The role focuses on delivering water and wastewater projects, guiding technical direction, and ensuring high-quality outputs while collaborating with the client and internal teams.

You will steer discipline activities, maintain engineering quality, and align with AMP8 framework requirements. The position values leadership, adaptability, and a proactive approach to innovation.

Qualifications

• Chartered Status (CEng) with a recognised Professional Institution.
• Proven ability to lead a portfolio of technical projects, ensuring QA and standards.
• Demonstrable technical experience in infra and non-infra mechanical design.
• Strong communication and collaboration across internal multi-disciplinary teams.
• Willingness to travel regularly for client meetings.

Responsibilities

• Accountable for technical quality of the deliverables created by their discipline and staff.
• Coordinate mechanical resources across the framework with design managers and project leads.
• Develop relationships and maintain communication with client technical stakeholders.
• Challenge client technical standards and manage waivers and deviations.
• Lead on and evolve delivery in line with framework requirements and opportunities.
