A leading healthcare provider in Cambridge is hiring a Maternity Support Worker to assist midwives in providing exceptional care to mothers and babies. The role involves clinical observations, venepuncture, and emergency care. Successful candidates will start at Band 2, advancing to Band 3 upon completion of required training. Development opportunities are offered, along with a supportive team environment. This position requires adherence to local and national guidelines to deliver safe care.
The primary role of the Maternity Support Worker (MSW) is to assist, support and work in collaboration with the midwife and the wider multidisciplinary team; in order to provide a safe and holistic approach to women centred care. The CARES team support women who are booked for an elective caesarean section. The successful candidate will work permanently within the CARES team to support the midwives, the women and their families.
This role includes working across pre op clinics, Rosie Operating Theatres and Rosie Recovery. This brings a variety of opportunities to learn and develop new skills.
The role includes working within local and national guidelines that enables individuals to provide safe and excellent care to our service users. There will be training and development opportunities for post holders who wish to progress within this career.
You will proactively, consistently and meaningfully demonstrates the Trust values in their day to day interactions with colleagues and service users.
You will be recruited at Band 2 if you have not yet completed CUH HCSW induction which includes completion of the Care Certificate and Competencies. Once completed you will move up to Band 3. If you are currently working in a support worker role and have therefore completed these, you will be recruited as Band 3.
The process for functional skills has now changed, this is conducted as a second interview on TRAC following any applicant that is successful at their initial interview. This is organised by recruitment and you must achieve a pass rate of at least 50% to receive a conditional offer. This process applies to anyone that is not currently working as a Support Worker at CUH.
The MSW will work alongside Midwives and other health professionals in the provision of safe and excellent care to women and their babies. The MSW will receive relevant training and once deemed competent to do so, will have an array of skills to support midwives, some of the skills are listed below:
