Overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a registered Midwife to join the perinatal senior leadership team for a 12‑month period to lead on perinatal workforce, antenatal clinic and antenatal screening.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead on recruitment and retention across the perinatal service providing upward reporting of workforce data.
  • Oversee the preceptorship programme for newly qualified midwives and the student support programme.
  • Possess leadership responsibility and accountability for the antenatal clinic and antenatal screening departments with innovative service improvement.
  • Act as a visible leader within the group management structure demonstrating collaborative working across the MDT.
  • Be a modern matron responsible for delivering the goals as outlined in the Matrons Handbook.
  • Provide an immunisation and vaccination report from a UK occupational health provider or UK GP.
  • For internal candidates: if successful after interview, obtain approval from current line manager to accept the offer.
  • To be a visible leader: ensuring physical presence, professional appearance, professional standards and leading by example.
  • To visit and be present on wards and departments within areas of responsibility daily and be accessible to staff via face‑to‑face or other forms of communication.
  • To conduct planned gemba walks or rounding to support teams, identify improvement opportunities and waste.
  • To act as an expert resource providing advice on nursing issues in relation to policies, protocols, service delivery and adoption of organisational aims.
  • To demonstrate inclusive leadership, embedding local and national standards to ensure safe care, working collaboratively with the wider MDT.
  • To act as an influence on maintaining cleaning standards, environmental cleanliness, infection prevention and control compliance locally.
