Job description

AJP Recruitment are currently looking for a Material Controller to work for a large fabrication company based in Wallsend. A Material Controller manages the flow, storage, and tracking of materials/inventory to ensure production or project needs are met, handling tasks like inventory monitoring, supplier coordination, receiving/inspecting goods, updating ERP/stock systems, and liaising with production teams for timely delivery, ensuring accuracy, minimising waste, and maintaining safety standards. Key duties involve balancing stock levels, managing logistics, resolving shortages, and supporting continuous improvement in material management.

Key Responsibilities
  • Inventory Management: Monitor stock levels, conduct cycle/PI counts, update ERP/stock systems, and maintain data accuracy.
  • Supply Chain Coordination: Liaise with procurement and suppliers for timely material replenishment and manage supplier performance.
  • Logistics & Distribution: Arrange transportation, manage warehouse organisation, and deliver materials to production/lineside locations.
  • Quality Control: Inspect incoming materials, report issues (shortages, quality), and ensure proper storage and handling.
  • Production Support: Ensure materials are available for scheduled projects, resolve material shortages (progress chasing), and support production planning.
  • Reporting & Improvement: Identify discrepancies, recommend solutions, and contribute to continuous improvement in material processes.
Essential Skills & Qualifications
  • Skills: Strong organisational, time management, analytical, and communication skills; ability to work under pressure and independently.
  • Knowledge: Inventory control methods, ERP systems, Microsoft Office.
  • Experience: Background in logistics, inventory, purchasing, or a related field.
