A leading engineering firm in Wolverhampton seeks an experienced Manufacturing Engineer. You will support build operations, ensuring on-time delivery and quality standards. Qualifications

  • Minimum HNC/HND qualification in Engineering.

  • Experience with welded and brazed fabrications.
  • Technical knowledge from previous roles.
  • Good understanding of GD&T.

Job description

Reporting to the Lead Manufacturing Engineer, the Manufacturing Engineer will be responsible for supporting build and braze Operations to ensure on time delivery and uphold quality standards. The successful candidate should be an experienced Manufacturing Engineer. You will be required to work collaboratively with all disciplines including Design, Quality, Operations and Supply Chain to implement manufacturing improvements, improve product quality and reduce costs.

Responsibilities
  • Creating and maintaining standard operating procedures and manufacturing specifications.
  • Support customer/internal investigations using problem resolution tools and techniques.
  • Initiate and drive continuous improvement activities to remove waste and improve efficiency, Scrap, Rework and Repair (SRR).
  • Co-ordinating corrective actions from investigations.
  • Designing and updating jigs, fixtures and tooling including creating drawings for manufacture.
  • Raising orders for new equipment as required.
  • Ensuring the Operations function is supported to facilitate on time delivery.
Qualifications
  • Qualified to HNC/HND minimum in a relevant Engineering discipline.
  • Experience - Worked previously as a Manufacturing Engineer within aerospace, automotive or industrial sectors. Familiar with Quality, Industrialisation and Operations processes. Working with sheet metal parts, castings, complex parts machined from billet and complex assemblies. Experience working with welded and brazed fabrications is desirable.
  • Experience working specifically with heat exchangers would be advantageous.
  • Be able to demonstrate technical knowledge from previous roles.
  • Experience using CAD (ideally NX) and PLM (Teamcenter) packages is desirable.
  • Good understanding of technical drawings and GD&T.
  • Experience in continuous improvement activities and root cause investigation techniques such as 8D analysis, fault tree, fishbone diagrams etc.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
