Job summary

Cygnet Nield House in Crewe is seeking a confident Maintenance Operative to perform day-to-day maintenance tasks across the site. You will join a 29-bed women’s mental health facility, carrying out joinery, plumbing, painting and general building work while maintaining equipment and reporting hazards.

Applicants should have previous maintenance experience, hold a valid driving licence and be prepared to travel to other sites. DBS check may be required.

Qualifications

• Experience in a similar role or self-employed capacity in recent years.
• Willing to travel and hold a full valid driving licence.
• Able to communicate at all levels & record detailed maintenance information.
• Skilled at DIY & general maintenance.
• Preferably experienced in the electrical/plumbing/construction industry.

Responsibilities

• Provide a comprehensive maintenance & repair service.
• Carry out a range of tasks including basic joinery, plumbing, painting & general building work.
• Maintain equipment, services & vehicles.
• Comply with safe working practices & report faulty equipment and potential hazards.
• Travel to other sites & on occasions be on call to carry out emergency repairs outside of normal working hours.
• Check the fire alarm points weekly, including fire exits, door retaining devices & fire emergency lights.

The hospital is split into two distinct wards, each offering specialist mental health services:Clarion Ward: a 14 bed complex personality disorder service for women with a dual diagnosis of personality disorder and co-morbid disordered eating.Compton Ward: a 15 bed acute service for women.
