Job summary

Cygnet Elowen Hospital in Derbyshire is seeking a Maintenance Assistant/Operative to keep the site safe, secure and well maintained. You'll perform repairs, basic joinery, plumbing, painting and general building work, ensuring a high quality care environment.

The role is full-time, 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday with no weekend work; shift options are 8:00–16:00 or 9:00–17:00, and occasional on-call work outside hours may apply.

Qualifications

• Experience in all types of painting and decorating in indoor/outdoor environments.
• Willing to travel and hold a full valid driving licence.
• Able to communicate at all levels and record detailed maintenance information.
• Skilled at DIY and general maintenance.
• Preferably Level 2 Diploma in Painting & Decorating/Maintenance.

Responsibilities

• Provide a comprehensive maintenance and repair service.
• Carry out tasks including basic joinery, plumbing, painting and general building work.
• Maintain plant, services and vehicles in working order.
• Comply with safe working practices and report faulty equipment and hazards.
• Travel to other sites and occasionally be on call for emergency repairs outside normal hours.
• Check fire alarm points weekly and ensure exits and emergency lights are operational.

Working 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday only, you'll enjoy a great work-life balance with no weekend working.

Choose from either an 8:00 am to 4:00 pm or 9:00 am to 5:00 pm shift pattern, providing consistency and flexibility to suit your lifestyle.

Your day-to-day...

• Provide a comprehensive maintenance & repair service
• Carry out a range of tasks including basic joinery, plumbing, painting & general building work
• Maintain plant, services & vehicles in working order
• Comply with safe working practices & report faulty equipment & potential hazards
• Travel to other sites & on occasions be on call to carry out emergency repairs outside of normal working hours
• Check the fire alarm points weekly, including fire exits, door retaining devices & fire emergency lights

You are...

• Experienced in all types of painting and decorating in both indoor and outdoor environments
• Willing to travel & hold a full valid driving licence
• Able to communicate at all levels & record detailed, accurate maintenance information
• Skilled at DIY & general maintenance
• Preferably Level 2 Diploma qualified in Painting & Decorating/Maintenance
• Friendly, conscientious & an excellent team member with a positive attitude
