Job summary

Cygnet Group is seeking a Maintenance Operative for our hospital at Cygnet Nield House. You will perform day-to-day maintenance to keep the facility safe, functional and well-maintained, supporting patients and staff across two wards.

The role is full-time, 40 hours per week, with on-call duties and travel to other sites as required. A valid driving licence and hands-on maintenance skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Experience in a similar role or self-employed work in recent years.
• Full valid driving licence.
• Ability to communicate at all levels and record maintenance information.
• Skilled at DIY and general maintenance.
• Experience in electrical/plumbing/construction industry preferred.
• Friendly, conscientious team member with a positive attitude.

Responsibilities

• Provide a comprehensive maintenance and repair service.
• Carry out tasks including basic joinery, plumbing, painting and general building work.
• Maintain equipment, services and vehicles.
• Comply with safety practices and report faults and hazards.
• Travel to other sites and be on call for emergency repairs outside normal hours.
• Check fire alarm points weekly, including fire exits, door devices and emergency lights.

We are looking for a confident Maintenance Operative to carry out a range of day-to-day maintenance tasks in order to ensure the hospital is maintained in a safe and efficient functional order, making a positive difference to the lives of the people in our care at Cygnet Nield House.

You will be working full time, 40 hours per week (Monday to Friday).

Cygnt Nield House is a 29-bed mental health hospital for women. The hospital is split into two distinct wards, each offering specialist mental health services.

Clarion Ward:

a14 bed complex personality disorder service for women with a dual diagnosis of personality disorder and co-morbid disordered eating.

Compton Ward:

a 15 bed acute service for women. The service provides a safe and stabilising environment for women who are experiencing an acute episode of mental illness and require an emergency admission.

Your Day-to-Day...

• Provide a comprehensive maintenance & repair service
• Carry out a range of tasks including basic joinery, plumbing, painting & general building work
• Maintain equipment, services & vehicles
• Comply with safe working practices & report faulty equipment and potential hazards
• Travel to other sites & on occasions be on call to carry out emergency repairs outside of normal working hours
• Checkthe fire alarm points weekly, including fire exits, door retaining devices & fire emergency lights.

You are...

• Experienced in a similar role, or have worked in a self-employed capacity in recent years
• Willing to travel & hold a full valid driving licence
• Able to communicate at all levels & record detailed, accurate maintenance information
• Skilled at DIY & general maintenance
• Preferably experienced in the electrical/plumbing/construction industry
• Friendly, conscientious & an excellent team member with a positive attitude.
