Job summary

CYGNET is seeking an experienced Maintenance Operative to join Ty Alarch, a six-bed women’s rehabilitation service in Merthyr Tydfil. The role is 16 hours per week with a pay of £12.75 per hour, involving maintenance, repairs and site safety across multiple locations as needed.

The ideal candidate will have a background in maintenance, hold a valid driving licence, and be a proactive, team-oriented professional ready to travel and respond to emergencies out of hours. DBS check will be required.

Qualifications

• Experienced in a similar role or self-employed in recent years.
• Willing to travel and hold a full valid driving licence.
• Able to communicate at all levels and record detailed, accurate maintenance information.
• Skilled at DIY and general maintenance.
• Preferably experienced in the electrical/plumbing/construction industry.
• Friendly, conscientious and a positive team member.

Responsibilities

• Provide a comprehensive maintenance & repair service.
• Carry out tasks including basic joinery, plumbing, painting & general building work.
• Maintain equipment, services & vehicles.
• Comply with safe working practices & report faulty equipment and hazards.
• Travel to other sites and be on call for emergency repairs outside normal hours.
• Check the fire alarm points weekly including exits and emergency lights.

We are looking for an experienced Maintenance Operative to join our team at Cygnet Ty Alarch. Ty Alarch is a six bed community rehabilitation (level 1) service for women who have been able to progress through the hospital pathway at Cygnet St Teilo House. We also accept referrals from other high dependency inpatient rehabilitation services as well as directly from the community. This service is now open and accepting referrals.

Your Day-to-Day

You’ll be working 16 hours per week. Salary: £12.75 per hour.

• Provide a comprehensive maintenance & repair service
• Carry out a range of tasks including basic joinery, plumbing, painting & general building work
• Maintain equipment, services & vehicles
• Comply with safe working practices & report faulty equipment and potential hazards
• Travel to other sites & on occasions be on call to carry out emergency repairs outside of normal working hours
• Check the fire alarm points weekly, including fire exits, door retaining devices & fire emergency lights

You are

• Experienced in a similar role, or have worked in a self-employed capacity in recent years
• Willing to travel & hold a full valid driving licence
• Able to communicate at all levels & record detailed, accurate maintenance information
• Skilled at DIY & general maintenance
• Preferably experienced in the electrical/plumbing/construction industry
• Friendly, conscientious & an excellent team member with a positive attitude
