£42.89 PAYE / £55.00 per hour Umbrella

Essex County Council (ECC) are delighted to be supporting Harlow Council in recruiting a Locum Property Lawyer on a full-time, temporary basis.

Job Purpose:

As a Locum Property Lawyer for Harlow Council, you will be required to provide legal advice and assistance to the Council, its Chief and Senior Officers Client Officers Members appointed Statutory Directors and similar.

Accountabilities:
  • To keep informed of developments in areas fields of law of immediate concern to the Council and to advise the Council, Chief Officer, Senior Management, Client Departments, Officers Statutory Directors and Members as appropriate.
  • To advance promote and assist in the shaping and development of the delivery of Legal Services.
  • To undertake conduct of non-contentious property and ancillary non-contentious transactions
  • To carry out such other duties as may be allocated time to time by the Assistant Director Legal and Democratic Services.
Role Duties:
  • To carry out and complete commercial property portfolio and residential property transactions.
  • To assess instructions of statutory residential property matters including Council charge.
  • To keep informed of developments in areas fields of law of immediate concern to the Council and to advise the Council, Chief Officer, Senior Management, Client Departments, Officers Statutory Directors and Members as appropriate.
  • Provide advice to client departments and support the implementation of policies and procedures and guidance to promote best practice and compliance with changes to legislation, guidance and policy.
  • To review and interpret new legislation, case law, policy, guidance and general development in legal practice and procedure, and provide advice and guidance to the Council client departments, Chief Officer, Officers and Members.
  • Keep accurate time recording of all matters using the time recording and case management system.
  • To create solutions to officer legal business and or challenges and where practicable eliminate or mitigate any risk arising.
  • To comply with the scheme of delegation to officers as determined by the Council.
Experience You Will Bring:

A qualified Solicitor, Barrister, Legal Executive or equivalent

Experience in dealing with agreements relating to residential properties, including drafting and granting miscellaneous tenancies and licences
