Is it time to open new doors in your legal journey? If so, we are seeking an experienced Small Claims Motor Claims Handler to effectively manage a portfolio of litigated quantum-disputed Fast Track files independently.

This role is ideal for someone with Small Claims litigation experience who wishes to handle fast track claims.

The Motor Claims Handler will handle cases efficiently and proactively, utilising effective telephone negotiation techniques to secure appropriate settlements. It offers an excellent opportunity for someone looking to expand their litigated file handling experience beyond the Small Claims Track into personal injury work.

Key Accountabilities

1. Manage a caseload of Fast Track quantum cases independently, ensuring Court deadlines are met through effective planning and organisation.
2. Achieve performance targets and uphold quality standards.
3. Analyse evidence to develop initial case strategies on quantum.
4. Conduct telephone negotiations with clients, defendants, insurers, and solicitors to pursue efficient settlements and cost apportionment.
5. Draft Court documents and meet all Court deadlines.
6. Instruct, brief, and liaise with Counsel.
7. Participate in court telephone hearings to maximize progress and facilitate case settlements.
8. Guide defendants through litigation and set appropriate expectations.
9. Maintain case management, billing, and management information systems accurately and timely.
10. Delegate tasks appropriately within the team.
11. Handle correspondence and calls within service level agreements.
12. Update reports with evidence as received.
13. Comply with Client Guidelines and ISO 9001 standards.
14. Ensure adherence to SRA Standards & Regulations.

Working Hours

35 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 9am – 5pm, with 1 unpaid hour for lunch. Location: Bolton, Parklands Office, working 1 day in-office and 4 days remotely.

Experience, Skills, and Qualifications

• Previous experience managing litigated claims (defendant or claimant).
• Understanding of case law, litigation procedures, and Court Practice Rules.
• Ability to plan and prioritise workloads.
• Efficiency in process-driven environments.
• Excellent listening, verbal, and written communication skills.
• Attention to detail and ability to follow instructions.
• Ability to work tactfully and sensitively.
• Proficient in Word, Excel, and Office.
• Minimum of 5 GCSEs grade C/5 or equivalent, including maths and English.

Preferred:

• Further legal education or experience.
• File handling experience in law practice or insurance.
• Knowledge of highway code and road traffic principles.
