A tech company in Freston is seeking a highly skilled Linux & DevOps Engineer to join their team. The ideal candidate will have expertise in Linux systems administration, cloud infrastructure, and CI/CD pipelines. Responsibilities include managing Linux servers, designing CI/CD workflows, and mentoring junior engineers, while ensuring high availability and performance of systems. Qualifications

  • 4+ years of hands-on Linux systems administration experience.
  • Proven expertise in AWS, GCP, or Azure (certifications a plus).
  • Strong experience with Terraform, Ansible, or similar tools.
  • Skilled with modern pipelines (Jenkins, GitLab CI, GitHub Actions, or equivalent).
  • Proficient in Docker, Kubernetes, Helm, and microservices deployment.
  • Strong in Bash, Python, or Go for automation.
  • Solid understanding of firewalls, VPNs, DNS, SSL/TLS, and load balancing.
  • Experience with Prometheus, Grafana, ELK/EFK stack, or Datadog.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally.

Responsibilities

  • Manage, configure, and optimize Linux servers (Ubuntu, CentOS, RHEL, or Debian).
  • Design and maintain CI/CD pipelines.
  • Build and manage cloud environments (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
  • Implement system hardening, access controls, and vulnerability management.

Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Linux & DevOps Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in Linux systems administration, automation, cloud infrastructure, and CI/CD pipelines. This role requires hands-on technical leadership, problem-solving ability, and a passion for building scalable, reliable, and secure platforms. The Engineer will work closely with developers, QA, and infrastructure teams to design, implement, and optimize systems that support our applications and services. You will be responsible for ensuring high availability, performance, and security of our environments, while also mentoring junior engineers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Linux System Administration
    • Manage, configure, and optimize Linux servers (Ubuntu, CentOS, RHEL, or Debian).
    • Ensure system stability, patching, upgrades, and performance tuning.
    • Implement monitoring, logging, and alerting solutions for proactive issue detection.
  • DevOps & Automation
    • Design and maintain CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI, GitHub Actions, CircleCI).
    • Automate infrastructure provisioning and configuration using tools like Terraform, Ansible, or Puppet.
    • Standardize deployments across environments with Infrastructure as Code (IaC).
  • Cloud Infrastructure
    • Build and manage cloud environments (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
    • Implement scalable, secure, and cost-optimized architectures.
    • Support containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes, OpenShift, or EKS/AKS/GKE).
  • Security & Compliance
    • Implement system hardening, access controls, and vulnerability management.
    • Support compliance requirements (ISO, SOC2, GDPR, HIPAA as applicable).
    • Manage secrets, identity, and access (Vault, AWS IAM, Key Management Systems).
  • Collaboration & Leadership
    • Work closely with developers to optimize build, release, and deployment processes.
    • Mentor and guide junior engineers in Linux and DevOps best practices.
    • Participate in on-call rotation and incident response handling.
    • Document architecture, processes, and operational run books.
Required Skills & Qualifications
  • Linux Expertise: 4+ years of hands-on Linux systems administration experience.
  • Cloud Platforms: Proven expertise in AWS, GCP, or Azure (certifications a plus).
  • Automation & IaC: Strong experience with Terraform, Ansible, or similar tools.
  • CI/CD: Skilled with modern pipelines (Jenkins, GitLab CI, GitHub Actions, or equivalent).

  • Contributions to open-source DevOps/Linux communities.
Education
