Why choose DHL eCommerce UK?

Want to work for one of the UK’s best workplaces? DHL eCommerce UK has been recognised as a Best Workplace 2025 and achieved Top Employer accreditation for the 5th year running. You will be entitled to a range of benefits including discount vouchers for restaurants, cinemas, retail outlets, healthcare and much more, as well as pension, enhanced family leave, childcare discounts, employee assistance programme and more.

About the role

You will drive a lorry from our fleet of Volvo vehicles, all less than 4 years old. They’re a joy to drive, and are equipped to a high specification, including fridges, leather seats and many more optional extras to make sure you’re comfortable.

Most of our sites run from Monday to Friday, with 45 hour working weeks and 9-hour shifts per day, typically starting at 5/6pm. Our well-organised shift schedules mean you often know in advance where you’ll be driving, taking the stress out of your day.

The role offers job security within a growing, global business. We operate a busy fleet, so there’s always work available. If you want additional hours, you can have them, and we offer enhanced rates of pay for bank holidays.

You’ll be joining a friendly team—our drivers often stay with us for many years, and we support each other, including sharing traffic updates through WhatsApp.

Key Role Responsibilities

We don’t micromanage our drivers. We trust them to get the job done and plan their own routes. This job involves trunking to regional hubs on the night shift. If you enjoy the independence of long drives and being home after every 9-hour shift, this is the role for you.

You’ll ensure cages, pallets, freight, stillages and Yorks reach customers on time. At some sites, goods may be loaded or unloaded for you; at others you’ll need to do it yourself. Scanning consignments and driving pallet trucks will sometimes be part of your day.

You’ll be responsible for inspecting your vehicle and trailer daily and completing a Defect Report if necessary.

You will ensure everything is ‘right first time’ for internal and external customers, and as a strong communicator, you’ll work to keep customers happy, passing on any unresolved queries to your site manager promptly.

Qualifications
  • Class 1 Driving licence as a minimum
  • Driver CPC qualification card
  • Completed required DCPC training hours or be working towards them
  • Excellent knowledge of road transport laws and commitment to safe road use
  • A “can do” attitude
Career development

We take every employee’s career seriously and believe in realising their full potential. We have dedicated learning and development programmes open to every employee and an open working culture where everyone’s voice is heard, so you can shape your future career path at DHL eCommerce UK.

What will you need to do next?

If you meet the requirements for this role and are looking for your next career move, submit your application along with an up-to-date CV.
