Job summary

Bury Council is hiring a proactive Caretaker & Library Courier for 30 hours per week to support Bury Library Service across branches. You will help keep library buildings safe, clean and welcoming, and you will deliver a reliable courier service.

The role suits someone practical with good customer care, able to work flexibly and take initiative. A trade background is desirable but not essential; a valid driving licence is required.

Qualifications

• Experience in caretaking or building maintenance, especially with public-facing settings.
• Ability to perform minor repairs and maintenance tasks.
• Strong customer care and good communication with the public.

Responsibilities

• Carry out day-to-day minor repairs and general handyperson tasks to keep buildings safe and presentable.
• Drive the Library van to deliver and collect items; perform routine vehicle checks and ensure a valid licence.
• Deliver books to housebound residents as part of the library service and provide friendly, customer-focused support.
