Job summary

Herefordshire Council is seeking a reliable Delivered Services Driver/Assistant to deliver books and materials to libraries and other sites in Herefordshire. The role is on a 12-month fixed-term contract, with 13 hours across two or three days per week depending on shift.

Applicants must hold a full clean UK driving licence, be physically fit to lift crates, and be prepared for Enhanced DBS. Training starts at the Herefordshire County Libraries Unit in Hereford.

Qualifications

• Full clean UK driving licence (B category or above).
• Physically fit with ability to lift and move crates and boxes.
• Good communication and IT literacy; input customer data accurately.
• Enhanced DBS check required.

Responsibilities

• Deliver and collect crates/bags of books to libraries and sites using an Extended Long Wheelbase Transit.
• Start/end at Herefordshire County Libraries Unit; perform vehicle checks and load/unload.
• Work flexible shifts, sometimes in tight spaces or rural deliveries, with safety in mind.
• Deliver to Home Delivery customers or schools as needed; operate independently or in a team.
