Role: Legal Assistant

Contract: Permanent

Salary: Up to 35,000 dependent on experience

Location: Shirley Solihull B90

We are working on behalf of an esteemed employer who are looking to recruit an experienced Legal Assistant to provide secretarial support to the Legal team. The successful candidate will have a proven background supporting in legal administration and secretarial tasks skilled in transcribing and dictation, as well as the ability to touch type. You will also support the Finance and Executive Assistant/PA teams as required.

This is an office-based role working 37.5 hour working week - Monday to Friday 9am until 5pm with half hour lunch.

Attention to detail, accuracy and a proactive nature are essential in this position.

Role and responsibilities:

  • As a Legal Assistant, you will be responsible for providing proactive personal assistance to the Legal Counsel including extensive inbox management, transcription and audio dictation as well as arranging travel and accommodation.
  • Prepare, format, amend and proof-read a wide variety of legal documents including agreements, contracts, wills and powers of attorney under the guidance of Legal Counsel.
  • Conducting thorough research to obtain factual information, case law and statutory references that reinforce legal arguments or address specific legal matters.
  • Acting as first point of contact for queries from other business areas and offices.
  • Schedule meetings and record minutes with high levels of attention to detail.
  • Manage day-to-day office operations such as answering telephone calls, responding to emails, handling mail, expenses, filing as well as booking meeting rooms, providing hospitality and maintaining office supplies.
  • Provide ad-hoc support to the Executive Office and Finance Team as well as providing reception cover when needed.

Skills and experience required:

  • Previous demonstrable experience as a Legal Administrator or Legal Assistant essential.
  • Experience with commercial, litigation or commercial law essential.
  • Experienced in minute taking, transcribing and audio dictation essential.
  • Meticulous attention to detail in all aspects of work as well as experience of document management (using track changes, automatic numbering, formatting and producing document comparisons).
  • Excellent time management and organisational skills
  • Highly organised with excellent communication skills
  • Strong knowledge and confident user of Excel
  • Ability to engage with a variety of high profile stakeholders at C-Suite level and colleagues teams across different business lines
