Job description
Overview

UWE Bristol’s School of Computing and Creative Technologies is rapidly expanding, with around 130 academic staff and over 2,500 undergraduate and postgraduate students. Our state-of-the-art programmes cover a wide range of computing disciplines, and we also support a growing and successful body of research.

We currently offer an MSc in Data Science, delivered both on campus and online, together with a BSc in Data Science and a BSc Data Science and Artificial Intelligence top-up degree. We also have active PhD students in this area.

About you

You should have a PhD in Data Science, Computer Science, or a closely related discipline, or substantial professional/industry experience that is equivalent. Knowledge and expertise in one or more areas relevant to data science is essential, including but not limited to:

  • Large Language Models (LLMs), and Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) systems applied in some specialised domain.
  • Modern data infrastructure for AI, such as vector databases and other emerging solutions designed to support machine learning workflows.
  • Cloud-based AI engineering, including experience such as AWS or Azure, and CI/CD pipelines for model deployment.

The primary focus of this role will be teaching and the development of teaching practice within the field, and we will expect you to support teaching on our programmes, although you will be encouraged and supported in your research ambitions.
