Learning Support Assistant – Full‑Time Primary School in Croydon

Contracts: Fixed Term, Flexible, Temporary, between January – July 2026

Locations: Croydon, South London

Start Date: January 2026

Are you passionate about supporting children's learning and development? We’re now recruiting for an established and experienced Learning Support Assistants, interested to support children with mild to moderate learning needs on a flexible, contract basis.

As an LSA, this can be a highly rewarding and varied role in a school. Your primary goal is to support children with additional needs or mild to moderate learning difficulties to reach their full potential.

These roles are ideal for support staff with prior experience supporting in a primary school with good knowledge and skills supporting SEND on a mild-moderate basis.

Day to day tasks of an LSA may include:
  • Support individual students – often those with learning difficulties, disabilities, or behavioural challenges.
  • Assist small groups with classwork or specific learning activities.
  • Adapt materials or explain tasks in simpler terms.
  • Encourage independence, confidence, and participation in class.
  • Provide emotional and social support – being a friendly, consistent adult in their school life.
  • Help with classroom management, such as keeping students on task or managing behaviour calmly.
  • Support physical or sensory needs – for example, helping with mobility, feeding, or communication tools (like PECS or speech devices).
  • Record and report progress to the teacher or SENCO.
  • Help prepare resources and tidy up after lessons.
Ideal candidate would demonstrate:
  • Previous experience with children is a plus, but not essential.
  • Enthusiastic, dependable, and patient.
  • Enhanced CHILD ONLY DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply).
  • Available to work full‑time (5 days per week) from January 2026.
