Job summary

A Bristol special school is seeking an enthusiastic Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to support learning activities for children, particularly in the Early Years / KS1 department. The role involves providing individual and group assistance, requiring effective communication with those using either BSL or oral English. Previous experience with Deaf or hard of hearing children is advantageous. This is a fixed term contract, term-time only, with hours from 8:30am to 3:30pm.

Overview

Based at our Sheridan Road site, BS7 0PU. 2-3 days/wk available - Mon-Fri 8.30am-3.30pm. Term time only + 5 INSET days. Fixed term contract - ASAP-31/08/26 - with the possibility of extension.

We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic LSA to provide support for learning activities by children on an individual or group basis in our Early Years / KS1 department. Experience of working with Deaf or hard of hearing children and young people is advantageous, but not essential.

About Elmfield

Elmfield is a maintained Bristol special school for pupils aged 3-16 years which serves the Bristol and wider region. We have been consistently judged as 'Good' by Ofsted. Ofsted recognises that we are 'ambitious for pupils' and 'aspirational in our outlook'. Pupils have deafness as a primary need, some with additional Special Educational Needs, and we provide a Bilingual Deaf Education where BSL and English are used. Experience working with children with a range of additional needs will be an advantage.
