Job summary

Haydon Abbey School and Pre-School is seeking an enthusiastic Learning Support Assistant to help pupils with trauma or learning challenges. You will work with class teachers to deliver a tailored curriculum and provide 1:1 or small group literacy, numeracy and social skills support.

You will supervise pupils during breaks, promote a safe and respectful environment, and uphold safeguarding guidelines (KCSIE). A calm, empathetic and collaborative approach is essential to help children flourish.

Qualifications

  • Experience working with children is desirable.
  • Good standard of English and Maths.
  • Willingness to support pupils with diverse needs.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver 1:1 or small group literacy, numeracy, and social skills interventions.
  • Active supervision during break and lunchtimes to ensure safety.
  • Support safeguarding through adherence to KCSIE guidance.

Initial contract will be fixed term until 31.08.26, however with the possibility of a further contract / permanent position

The Role: Impactful & Rewarding

As an LSA, you will work closely with class teachers to deliver a fun, functional, and tailored curriculum. Your day-to-day will involve:

  • Tailored Support: Delivering 1:1 or small group interventions in literacy, numeracy, and social skills.
  • Active Supervision: Ensuring a positive school experience by supporting safe play and social interaction during break and lunchtimes.
  • Safeguarding Excellence: Maintaining a culture of vigilance and adhering strictly to KCSIE statutory guidance to keep our children safe.

  • Experience of working with children
  • Good standard of education minimum English & Maths
