Job summary

Stantec is seeking a Principal Structural Engineer to lead the design and delivery of structural solutions for hydropower and dam projects across the UK. You will guide technical delivery, mentor engineers, and collaborate with clients to achieve compliant, innovative outcomes.

The role offers hybrid working from multiple UK offices, with opportunities to shape the energy portfolio and build technical capability within a multidisciplinary team.

Qualifications

• Requires BEng or MEng in Civil/Structural Engineering.
• Chartered or Incorporated Engineer status or working towards ICE or IStructE.
• Strong experience in structural engineering design across infrastructure, hydropower and dam projects preferred.
• Proficiency in structural analysis, numerical modelling and hand calculations.
• Experience leading multidisciplinary project teams and providing technical oversight.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and delivery of structural engineering solutions throughout the full project lifecycle, from concept through to construction support.
• Lead the structural engineering delivery of major energy projects with technical direction.
• Prepare and review detailed calculations, reports and design packages for regulatory submissions.
• Provide technical oversight, mentoring and guidance to engineers and technicians.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and external stakeholders to ensure successful outcomes.
• Ensure compliance with design standards, legislation and QA processes.
• Drive innovation and promote best practice in structural engineering design and delivery.
